Origin and Distribution

Bengal Gram is believed to have originated in western Asia.It spread at a very early date to India and Europe. Its areas of cultivation are India, Burma, Pakistan, Egypt and other Mediterranean countries, Ethiopia, South America and tropical Austrailia.
